How to start a story with friends
Yes—join the same story room to share its progress. When creating a room, choose your role, assign AI roles and leave roles open for friends. Check whether joining is allowed directly, requires approval or is disabled, then share the room. Friends can take eligible vacant roles; opening the same story separately creates a different experience.
Group example: You play the investigator, a friend plays the witness, and AI plays the archivist. Each participant responds for their own role. This illustrative setup happens inside a story, not a standalone character chat.

Each character in a story can be assigned to AI or a real person. Friends choose available characters; AI can fill the others. This is part of the story experience, alongside its relationships and world.

Tonight, both Life and Death would like you to stay. Aether's casual dinner invitation has become something else entirely. In the Serenitea Pot's Star Garden, Rhinedottir places a golden flower beside his cup. Her cloak rests loosely over one arm; as she leans across the table, the gold at her bare shoulder catches the light. She lingers close enough for her perfume to mingle with the flowers. "I chose this for you. And this dress... surely you weren't planning to compliment only the flower?" 🌼 Ronova draws a chair toward his other side. Red and black fabric settles around her legs; pale hair brushes her shoulder. She glances at Rhinedottir's proximity, then meets Aether's eyes. "You may admire her. But I would like some time with you tonight, too. Alone." She sets an unlit lantern on the table, an invitation to the terrace. "Tell me whether you want that. I would rather hear it from you." 🌙 "You brought a lantern, and I'm the impatient one?" Rhinedottir taps the rim of her cup. "At least I do not call a date research." "Then I won't." Her smile turns frankly inviting. "I want your company. And when you come back here, I want to be the first person you think of." This romantic AU depicts all three as adults. Don't leave me with only enough time to say goodnight," Rhinedottir murmurs. "If you promise to return, I can wait," Ronova answers. "When you do, tell me how close you'd like to sit." Dinner may lead to a dance among the flowers, a private conversation under the terrace lights, or a sincerely wanted kiss. Can friends join a standalone character chat?
Friend participation happens inside story rooms. A standalone character chat is between you and that AI character; choose a multi‑character story for a shared experience.
Which AI chats are free?
Basic multi‑character AI chat inside story rooms is free with no message limit. Room creation or renewal, standalone character chat, paid models and extra features may cost coins or require payment. Daily check‑in rewards must be claimed; check the current amount and any price shown before confirming an action.
How are stories different from AI characters?
A standalone character is a one‑on‑one chat partner. A story provides a shared world and several roles; you choose your role and create a room to play. Each room has its own conversations and progress. AI plays assigned roles, while friends can join eligible vacant roles when the room allows it.
Can AI characters reply with images or voice?
AI characters can reply with images, and supported message controls let you hear AI text read aloud. Available tools and their costs depend on the client and feature you use. Reading a message aloud is not a live AI voice call; community voice rooms are a separate social feature.
Can I start in my browser?
Yes. Open the Plotto web app, choose a character or story, and begin there. The links on this page take you directly to the web app.
Can I create my own characters and stories?
Yes. Create a standalone AI character with a personality, background, greeting and voice, or write a multi‑character story with its own world, relationships and opening scene.
